Harry Smith and Katie Lee on "The Early Show"

Long-time CBS “The Early Show” anchorman Harry Smith and contributor Katie Lee fulfilled a promise live on nationwide television today by feasting on fresh Louisiana seafood.

Louisiana’s shrimp season opened last week, and “government tests show the seafood is perfectly safe to eat,” said Smith. So, Smith and Lee prepared a southern crab and shrimp boil. Smith has made many trips to southern Louisiana to report on conditions ever since April’s BP oil spill and pledged that when the oil crisis was over, he would cook Louisiana seafood live on his program.

Lee emphasized that Louisiana is America’s number one producer of fresh shrimp and oysters.
